We put three batteries since we dont want to replace them every year. The atomic clock adjusts itself via radio signals. So there is no need to adjust it by ourselves. It is very convenient. It's a nice clock, compact, taking up little space on my table. I wanted an atomic clock that would set itself, which this one does. But, the display on this clock is not visible from across the room. You have to push the button to light it up to see it from any distance, and that doesn't work unless you are close enough to reach it and push the button.
