About fell off my chair when I took my old doorbell off the wall - it had been there since 1983 and placed it beside the one I just purchased. IT WAS IDENTICAL with the exception of all metal parts are now replaced with cheap plastic. I mean EVERYTHING right down to the branding, wiring instruction, EVERYTHING. I guess if you have a good thing you don't fool with it, mine was still working well. The cover was what I wanted to change, and change it did. THIS IS NOT WOOD. The product is beautiful, however, there are metal clips that are to hold the glass in place. The first chime received had a clip which was broken off. This is just what we wanted to replace and old, yellowing doorbell. It seemed too expensive but others of the same quality were similarly priced so I suppose this is the going rate. My husband installed it without much fuss, and it has a pretty loud tone but not as loud as I expected. That accounts for the lost star in my rating.
