I installed this on a screen door that had a thin metal section at the bottom. It was either this, or a very thick doggie door, which wouldn't have worked well on the thin metal. It ended up working great, but some modifications were required. If you put it on anything other than a screen, it pays to spend some time before installing it to think about what modifications may be necessary. For instance, there are some interlocking plastic pieces that work great to hold it securely to a screen, but have to come off if you're putting it on a thin solid surface. I love that it is magnetic but it wasn’t well explained in the instructions so it took me a while to figure that one out, I kept trying to peel the stickers back…It also came a bit scratched which is fine for me as my dog will scratch it at some point..
