I waited a little bit to write this review because I was really frustrated after unpacking the box. There are no instructions on how to assemble as a crate, it only included instructions on use as a playpen. When you go to the Hiddin website there are videos of the crate assembly that show it being super simple, which is generally true, but out of the box, all of the pieces are still covered in the paper used to cut the acrylic. It does not come off in one sheet, so it took a significant amount of time and I ended up with several cuts on my knuckles from the sharp edges of the acrylic. I was really disappointed in the amount of time and the amount of mess that was required and unboxing the crate. I expected it to be a lot smoother given the premium price of this product. The unboxing aside, the crate is nice easy to take apart and clean. And also seems sturdy as our high energy, muscular dog tried to test whether or not she could escape and was not successful. I recently became an unexpected mom to a huge 9-months-old border collie. I needed a good sturdy kennel and wanted one that was attractive as well. I really love this kennel. It is very large, but it's what I needed. I had some difficulty putting it together by myself, but it is very doable. I also purchased the beautiful pillow shown inside in the attached photo from Wayfair, but the pillow is a little too lofty for my dog. Good quality! Size Medium. Lighter than I thought it would be. Has 2 handles on top which makes sense for size. Speaking of size, my ween is mini piebald dachshund breed. 15lbs, muscular build. Blondie is a mini ween too, 11lbs skinny legend. Blondie is 36 inches from tip of snoot to tip of tail. Plenty of room and both could fit both but I won’t do that. It’s for my thiccums black and tan piebald tank. I could have done the small but I felt it wasn’t long enough. Bought a crate pad orthopedic since she’s 4 and is built like a machine and busts around. Roomy af in there. Color is one of a kind! I read someone had this on another review and it outlived their 16 yr old doggo so I assume it will outlive her and I can use it for another dog too. This is an OK carrier. I ordered it to give to a neighbor, and I had to tell her that I would recommend always carrying it from the bottom, unless she was carrying only a kitten or lightweight cat. I might be wrong, but the carry handle is on the metal gate that opens at the top, and that gate is only attached on one side by two lightweight plastic tabs. And the wire in the gates is a smaller guage than I've seen used in a carrier before. I just don't think they would hold up for repeated use by a heavy cat... Again, I could be wrong. Other than that, it's a good carrier. It was simple to put together, and it came with a water/food bowl attachment, and a grate that sits at the bottom. Both of those aren't always included with a carrier. It has plastic lock fittings instead of the heavy-duty steel wire that I've always had on my carriers, but they look like they'll holdup. I like that it has two ways to join the top & bottom. You can use the bolts if you have room to store it whole, or you can use the four clamps on the sides, and it will be fast & easy to break it down to half-size for storage.
