Fine cotton is woven in a way that creates a puckered, or waffle like texture. The coverlet is self-bound, and shams feature a straight flange detail. Matelassé (mat-la-SAY) is a weaving or stitching technique yielding a pattern that appears quilted or padded. Matelassé may be achieved by hand, on a jacquard loom, or a quilting machine. It is meant to mimic the style of hand-stitched quilts made in Marseilles, France. It is a heavy, thick textile that appears to be padded, but has no padding within the fabric. A soft, rippled texture channels the waves and breaks along the coastline to form this unique featherweight layer. Colored yarns are cut with undyed for a natural chambray look, which is backed with a contrasting neutral color on the opposite side. Self-fringed edge is secured with a tiny zigzag stitch to hold the fringe in place. The throw is a reversible, two-tone chambray detailed with a subtle stripe on each end.

Super cozy and soft. Nice light weight to it so it doesn't take up too much room. My only disappointment is that the Redwood color has a bit more of a purple hue to it than I anticipated... I was expecting a slightly warmer/more earthy brown-ish tone based on the photos, but I'm keeping it regardless.. Molly. US. Thu Jan 25 2024
