The wide length makes it easy to shift away from the window if necessary or to be seen from a specific chair in the room. It's very pretty, and solid. Absolutely beautiful, black, solid wood table! It is not engineered wood or cheap MDF. Very easy to assemble. Just add the four legs. One of the two support pieces that go on the underside of the table came unattached during shipping but it was easy to rescrew it back into place.
