This traditional weather station is both a work of art and an instrument at home in any fine study, library, office, or upscale restaurant. The rich, wood framed classic weather station measures barometric pressure (liquid). The antique weather station displays an air of quality and accuracy one would expect with a fine, handcrafted weather instrument from Ambient Weather. The concept that 'decreasing atmospheric pressure predicts stormy weather' was postulated by Lucien Video and it's the basis for a weather prediction device called a storm glass or liquid barometer. It consists of a glass container with a sealed body, half-filled with water. A narrow spout connects to the body below the water level and rises above the water level, where it is open to the atmosphere. When the air pressure is lower than it was at the time the body was sealed, the water level in the spout will rise above the water level in the body and when the air pressure is higher, the water level in the spout will drop below the water level in the body. Also includes a comfort meter, which measures temperature and humidity, and a comfort zone indicator.

I just love it! We needed a clock/thermometer combo for our patio that could be seen from the house (my husbands desk looks out on the patio) and be heavy enough that it wouldn't fly off when things get windy where we live. This hit all the marks, was a great value for what it is, plus it has a Hygrometer, which tracks humidity. I have one of these that was frozen with rust. I had to hacksaw the rod and then drill it out. I replaced the rod with a 5/16 stainless steel bolt after threading the base and sharpening the head end. I did the same, with the new one, to eliminate the problem. All though we did use the entire weather vain. The goose is what we were looking for, and it was perfect. Let me explain. We were task we building an interactive exhibit for display in the Dallas Arboretum. The exhibit was titled Jack's Bean Stalk thus the need for a goose to lay a golden egg. The goose is mounted on the top of a twenty foot wooden structure built to simulate a beanstalk growing to the sky.
