These curtain panels are listed as a "blackout thermal" panel. I would not say they are thermal, or blackout. They are on the thinner side, no thermal backing as some curtains I have, and they snag easily. They darken the room but definitely don't black out the room like others that I have. The close-up picture is morning on the east side of our house. It is a cloudy day today. They do filter out the brightest sunlight, and they do help with heat and cold to some degree, but not as good as others I have. For those two reasons I gave the four-star review.
