These Hevea butcher block countertops were just what I wanted for my new office. They were well packaged and arrived without damage. A few coats of matte poly were easy to apply. Nice smooth edges too so no additional sanding needed. They were less than half the cost of what I could get through my local big box DIY store. Despite significant damage to the shipping box the bar top is 99.9 undamaged. There is a minor chip on the bottom edge not visible from the top. This is attributed to the outstandingly packaging that was done for shipping. This bar top and delivery has exceeded my expectations. This cutting board was inspired by the original boos butcher blocks that were made from a solid piece of hardwood. their product is as close to nature as you can get and has a unique story. Each board is kiln-dried, with rustic edges and slight variances. You can even count the age rings. Some of their boards will have more grain than others; some will have knotholes and discolorations. This cutting board is exactly what I needed with the titanium on the other side so I can cut my meat and chicken and fish and it doesn’t stain the cutting board. You can see some of the cuts from the knife, but it’s not too bad. I don’t recommend putting the cutting board too close to the stove or putting anything on top of it when it comes out of the stove, cause it can melt the plastic around it. I also suggest when you’re done using the wood side, you wash it with light soapy water dry it and put a little bit of olive oil that will keep it looking brand new. This is a beautiful item.. It took longer than expected to receive the countertop but it arrived in immaculate condition and looks amazing. I put on 3 thin coats of wipe-on water based satin polyurethane to protect it and sanded lightly with steel wool in between coats.
