This is a basic cube shelf. It’s attractive and assembly was straightforward. I wanted something that would tuck into the closet space in my hobby room. The finish has a wood-grain look - it’s not a smooth finish so just be aware. One star off because a couple of the cam locks wouldn’t tighten properly and keep falling out. It’s like the cam dowels aren’t long enough for the bolt to “grab” it. These are just what I needed! They put together pretty well. I would recommend using wood glue for the pegs that hold the shelves on, just to make it a little sturdier. I was looking for solid wood bookcases but didnt want to spend a fortune. I came across these and thought theyd make for an interesting bookcase. Very versatile. Can arrange anyway you want. I split them up on either side of my chair. My own relaxing nook that Ive always wanted. I was even able to turn one around the corner of the wall and stack the top one to maximize space on the top of the bottom ones. Easy to assemble and seem sturdy enough so far. One of the boards came missing the threaded inserts for the screws but the company promptly sent me a replacement. The quality of this bookshelf is solid for engineered wood, and it wasn't too difficult to put together with one person. I'm only giving it three stars because the photo and description claim that it can be used vertically as well as horizontally. My daughter wanted it vertical (as shown in the photo), but there are four round-headed screws that go in each of those sides (both top and bottom), so it is not visually appealing and will scratch your floors with the screws on the floors. Luckily I have a large screw collection and switched them out for flat-headed screws, sank them in slightly below the surface and used wood fill to cover the top of the screw. It could have been made so much easier if the manufacturer made it that way, it would be such a simple fix. Unless you want to do the extra work, assume that the shelf will be used horizontally. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with this cabinet. The structure is incredibly unstable. During assembly, the wooden connectors (dowels) easily snapped, and there were zero spare parts provided in the hardware pack. The worst part is that it is fundamentally unsafe to assemble. When I followed the manuals instruction to lift it up, the entire cabinet completely fell apart and collapsed, resulting in an injury to myself.
