It is hung with the 20 chain. For perspective, we replaced a 20 year old pile rubbed bronze fixture that was 18 in diameter. I had concerns the new light may over power the space but the scale worked out beautifully in the end. The only concern was the instructions. This chandelier is gorgeous! I have had previous chandeliers for thousands and this rivals it. Very well made. We had 4 crystals broken out of all of them upon opening. I ordered this fixture a couple of years ago. We have been rebuilding after a lighting fire and it’s taken this long to get it installed and we are still not finished with finish work inside. Once the electrical is complete and we pass inspection I will be able to see this fixture on. Beautiful chandelier!!! We had an electrician install the base and installed the crystals ourselves. The instructions were very vague and hard to read regarding the pattern for the crystal installation but once we figured it out it went by smooth. Gorgeous!! My husband rented a scaffold to install it since our ceiling is 20 ft tall in our entry. He then lowered it, and we sat on scaffolding to install the crystals. Definitely a little more challenging installing this so high but worth it. It comes with a set of small crystals and a set of large crystals and you alternate them when installing on the rings of the chandelier. It took the both of us 1 12 hrs to put the crystals on. We got this one in the chrome finish. It was installed by our electrician and it looks marvelous! We ended up getting different bulbs for the fixture so that I could be dimmable and a bit brighter. The 'corn led light bulbs' were well worth it, the light is gorgeous, using a light switch dimmer it can change the mood of foyer in an instant. I did put this together myself so it possible! But if you struggle with limited directions, you may need to hire a professional.
