I was super excited to finally get the 8qt compared to my 4qt that I've been using for about 20 years now. I only had this now for 4 months found out you have to set it on low or it will burn whatever chili or meats you are cooking in it. I was using it to chili the other day and started to smell something burning. So I looked at the outlet and the cord to find the cord was melting. Waste of money I do not recommend. Randyc. I have had this Crock-Pot for 9 years. Sadly, the crock part got a crack in the bottom and the juices from the sweet potatoes I was cooking leaked into the heater part. I bought this unit when I became a senior widower, purchasing it for the express purpose of cooking for one. Its 2-quart capacity is perfect for a small houshold and it performs that task beautifully and, like its big brother, is easy to clean with its two-part design. I have two larger units for family visits. Another feature i like is the simple heat control. It doesn't reset or fail during a power bump as seems to be happening with increasing frequency..
