This light fixture will work well for the rental property it is installed in, but we would not use it in our own home with higher quality furnishings. It is fine, and works well, but the cost-effective quality is evident, and you'd not be able to clean it if it were marked or collected dust (air grease, if too close to a range hood, etc.) We are torn as to whether to even bother to use the second shade piece as it looks pretty good with just the large one. It can be used either way, though. So, we do recommend it, but be sure it is suitable for the home it will be used in. It did arrive extremely well packaged and safe from damage (even from careless transportation/delivery.) We included the empty box to illustrate how well the corners were packaged to protect the fragile outer/larger shade. Also, for those who are concerned with such things, it was also packaged to minimize the space/packaging materials, etc. so not unnecessary trash after unpacking.
