This island is exactly what I was looking for. It did take quite a while to put together as I was building it by myself. The box also arrived heavily damaged (someone had either stepped on it or kicked it). As a result, one of the doors was cracked. It feels substantial and sturdy, and the shelving underneath gives us tons of extra storage. Assembly took about 2 hours with two people, but the instructions were straightforward and the finished product was definitely worth the time. It is not real wood, so I would be careful with the surface—I wouldn’t place hot pans directly on it or set drinks down without a coaster. That said, it looks and feels like a much more expensive piece of furniture once assembled. We are using ours as a homeschool craft and project table, and it is PERFECT for that! Just what I was looking for in a real solid wood kitchen island on a budget! It fits our space & is a basic style for a good price. It is a soft wood (fir) so you do have to be gentle with it & it did come with some shipping/packaging character marks, but our style is rustic/vintage so it works just fine. I actually modified it by cutting off the bottom 2” on each leg & adding rollers so it is easily moveable by just one person. 8/10, an absolute WIN! One piece of the table has a dent in it due to shipping and handling. I put a vase on top of it to hide it. Wayfair gave a me a small % of a refund due to the dent. I paid for the professional assembly Wayfair offers, and it took him 3.5 hours to assemble. TONS of pieces, and the instruction manual is crucial! It has plenty of space, is aesthetically pleasing, and gives my kitchen the luxury upgrade I desire. It has two drawers that don’t have the lock when you extend it, so I have to be careful when opening it. I even added books where some would put spices, so I am loving the dual purpose.
