LOVE this!! Almost as much surface area as the old rectangular desk but fits nicely in the corner giving it enough room to pull down the new Murphy bed without having to move it. The two compartments on the top lift up to open but sadly they do not lock in place to remain open, which could be a little inconvenient but there is a slow close on it so it does not slam closed. **TIP** there is a piece that covers the top so you can possibly sit items up there that is probably some type of mdf board and it probably blends in with the packaging and mine was thrown out, so just be mindful and ask for that piece. I was VERY pleased with the quality of this furniture. Other cabinets I have purchased only had a colored cardboard back. These had stained plywood backing. They supplied plenty of extra screws and nails. The instructions (only pictures, very little text) were easy to follow and helpful. All of the predrilled holes were properly aligned. Overall, this was excellent furniture at a reasonable price. Desk is just as picture indicated on Wayfair. It was a bit much to put together, but thankfully, my husband got it done! Very happy with it. It’s solid and probably weighs about 400 pounds.
