I thought the quality was great, however, I did notice the brass handle had some rough spots as if it was not sanded down smooth enough. I like the hand forged quality which adds to the charm but I do wish it was sanded down smoothly on the entire handle. It feels like an oversight or quality assurance problem. I also did not like that there was a scratch on the copper finish itself. I tried to replace the item but customer service offered only a partial refund and I would keep the original pot. The scratch was small enough though but I paid $105 for this and expect excellence in return. The metal was dense, heavy and thick and the entire item feels hefty in weight to handle. We’ve had several wood stove kettles. What we liked about this one is the vents in the lid which allow for more steam to be released. One inconvenient feature is that the knob on the lid is very small. When the kettle is hot, you need to use a glove to lift the lid. It’s difficult to grasp the knob with a bulky fireplace glove.
