It's a heavy plastic/wood. Took a few minutes to understand the assembly instructions, but I bought 3 of them so after the 1st one I was able to figure out the other 2. I'm 5'10" so it's a little lower than a standard chair but I am getting use to sitting on it. The top of the cousin probably will hit our calves. I absolutely love this chair. It was one of those purchases I hoped would look good online, but it’s even better in person. The green fabric has a beautiful texture with subtle variation throughout, and the warm wood frame gives it that timeless, mid-century look without feeling trendy. It immediately elevated the room and looks far more expensive than it actually is. The first thing I noticed was how substantial it feels. This isn’t one of those lightweight accent chairs that slides across the floor every time you sit down. It’s heavy, solid, and feels extremely well made. Once it’s in place, it stays put. The wood legs and frame are sturdy, and everything feels well constructed with no wobbling or creaking. Comfort was another pleasant surprise. Accent chairs often sacrifice comfort for style, but this one manages to deliver both. The seat cushion is supportive without being overly firm, the back provides great support, and the angled arms are comfortable whether you’re reading, visiting with friends, or just relaxing for a while. I’ve found myself choosing this chair over the couch more than once. Delivery did take longer than expected, so if you’re ordering it, plan to be patient. That said, it was worth the wait.
