It measures 13 inches in diameter and perfect for making mole and other casserole style dishes. Can be used on a stovetop both gas or electric, oven or microwave, and of course over direct flames for adding great smoky taste. Unlike other Mexican Cazuelas, ours are glazed inside and out making cleanup a breeze.

The Flat Casserole is perfect for the slow cooking of stews and casseroles, but due to its low profile, perfect for rice and seafood stews such as Paella. Length 16 (including handles), Width 13.25, Height 5, Diameter 11.5 and Capacity 4qt (filled comfortably without overflowing). Well suited for gas or electric ranges, and perfect for placing in an oven for finishing those rice dishes slowly. Since clay is a natural and porous material, it does not react with the food and causes a slow evaporation of steam from the pores. The moist enclosed interior results in food that is healthier and tastier as it requires less fat and liquids. The beautiful exterior finish makes for a great presentation for family style service. We love the design! However, the workmanship and finish are notably cruder than depicted in the photos. Some of the holes were not fully punched out before curing and others have messy ridges baked on around them. The surface of both have a number of scrapes, scratches and divets on them. We suspect they'll still cast a nice light pattern, but haven't been able to install them yet as they do not include any electrical components which we are now ordering separately. Probably would not have ordered them if we knew the actual items are not nearly as precise or elegant as advertised. Definitely expensive for the quality. What you see on your screen might not be exactly what you will get, this is mostly due to several factors, among others: lighting when the picture was taken, lighting in your own monitor, but mostly changes in the glazes used between batches. All these factors are beyond our control. If in doubt, we recommend you to order a sample before committing to a bigger order. This tile has limited outdoors use, we don't recommend its use on temperatures under 40 degrees. It is not frost-proof. It is not suitable for inside pools as the chemicals involved on water cleaning will destroy the clay. Because this item is handmade, slight variations in size may occur. Dimensions typically range from 6" to 6.25".
