This is really much more sturdy than I expected. Like, the thought crossed my mind to use it as a stool, but then that didn't seem useful. FYI there are 9 height options (per the peg placements available) per side, but each side only has 5 little shelves. I guess if you wanted to get creative and it suited your purposes, you could put 9 shelves on one side and have 11 mostly very short shelves on one side and then only 1 shelf on the other side with very wide (relatively) vertical spacing. Measuring 12'' H x 31.8'' W x 12'' D, it sits neatly atop desks, entryway tables, and more, offering a total of 12 letter-size compartments for stationery, documents, and – of course – letters. Its manufactured wood frame features an oak finish and black plastic molding at the opening of each compartment that acts as a labeling area. Labels are included.

I got the quality I paid for. The cardboard interior was sturdier because of the compressed wood frame. The construction is strengthened by glue-infused dowels activated with water - but be careful to get the pieces oriented correctly as they are hard to reposition! Height is 12.25 inches not 12, so it didn't fit in my 12" bookshelf as planned. The slots are roomy for letter (8.5x11) and craft size (9x12) paper, but not for scrapbook (15x15) paper.
