The material is soft, light, and flowy with a pretty natural plant design on the outer layer and a semi-sheer white inside layer. This curtain set is easy to assemble. There are loops along the top of the curtain to slip the curtain rod through without difficulty. The curtain is definitely not a blackout curtain, so if you are looking for a complete blocking of light, this is not the curtain for you. The curtain allows some light through, providing shaded sunlight when closed. On a standard window, the curtain reaches the floor, and each curtain fully covers the window width. Beautiful curtains, I love the look and feel of them, problem is they are not true blackout curtains. There is a white paneling on the back, if it would’ve been thicker material or black it may have helped a lot. I ordered an additional blackout curtain to add behind them for true darkness. The photo in the advertisement is correct with the amount of light the curtain let in behind them, I was hoping for a more blackout look.
