Hand-knotted in wool, this vintage ode to Chinese art deco rugs of the 1920s features flowers flourishing in variegated tones of pastel pink, royal blue & off-white in diagonal corners of the inner border highlighting the minimalist approach to design. Offering a refreshing vibe to the plush golden open field with light-dark spots further complementing the lustrous pile of the hand-knotted vision—framed in a solid deep blue border, an exemplary piece in excellent condition. Among the earliest of Rug & Kilim’s unique productions, originating circa 1980-1990 now unveiled as it enters its vintage tenure.

The pattern in the picture is striking, but not so in reality. It turns out the colors are muted. The black is washed out and gray. The red is pink. Actually the design is washed out as well. Im keeping it because it’s too difficult to return and will live with it. It is a costly rug and was hoping it would look more like its picture. Perhaps a smaller size would look better. I got an 8x10.. Heather. Gloucester, MA. Sun Jan 28 2024

This is a stunning rug. I bought the 8x11 size. The rug is prettier in person; the colors are beautiful. This is a higher pile and thick carpet. No glue odor or any smell. I am very happy with this purchase.. Mariana. Mission Viejo, CA. Tue Sep 24 2024

I’m super disappointed:( I was looking forward to getting this for my new apartment. I based so much on this rug was the first thing I bought because I really loved how it looked online. And it’s honestly just a big cheap bathroom mat instead of a real rug. The quality is sooo bad and I spent over $300 on it since I got the 5 ft square size. Which is still pretty small tbh. The pictures look pixelated and it looks like they just printed a big faded and distorted picture on top of one of those stiff cheap bathroom mats. Ended up losing money for the return :(. Brenda. Chinese Deco Rug, Origin: China, Circa: Early 20th Century – Here is an exciting and appealing antique Oriental carpet – an antique Art Deco rug that was designed and woven in China during the early years of the twentieth century. Heavily informed by the aesthetic inclinations of the Art Deco period, this unique carpet is a compelling and thought-provoking example. A scalloped border of Blue encloses a Rose / Rust sand field on this exquisitely subtle and restrained antique Chinese Art Deco. At first the field appears empty or open, but it is actually covered by a tone-on-tone design of scrolls and cloud-bands emanating inward from the outer edges. In their sinuous rhythms they echo the scalloped forms of the border and continue its visual effects across the carpet in a more subdued manner. This carpet testifies to the masterful design sensibilities of Chinese weavers as they made the transition into the modern world. The Art Deco movement had an outside influence on the world of art and design, and some of the most important qualities and characteristics of that movement may be found in this fine rug.

A one-of-a-kind hand-knotted wool rug, this 1930s Chinese antique example pairs floral design with rich, lived-in color. Every knot and color shift is original to the piece, hand-made in wool and never machine reproduced. Its beige coloring reads as rich and collected and layers beautifully with both antique and modern furnishings. Measuring approximately 9'0" x 11'3", it is large enough to anchor a great room, open-plan living, or formal dining space. As a single original weaving, no two are alike, making it a genuine collectible for layered, design-forward interiors.
