2 weeks in and it is a hit. It took 2 adults and a 5 year old 1-1.5 hours to assemble. We used our own tools (socket and electric screw driver with hex bit), they worked much better than the ones included and I know saved us a good bit of time. We are so happy with this playhouse! Our daughter is 2 (almost 2.5) and has been absolutely obsessed with it since the day we set it up. The working doorbell was also such a fun surprise and adds a really interactive touch that keeps her entertained. There are so many little details that make it feel extra special without being overwhelming. It took a few hours to setup but was overall fairly easy. Having 4 kids, I knew this would be a big hit with my youngest son. His older brothers used to own the older Step2 model of this roller coaster, but I eventually gave it away. I usually wait until a certain age to surprise the boys with this set, but my fourth son is much taller. Having three older brothers, he is also much more mature and a quick learner. It arrived in many pieces, but everything was included and nothing was missing (what a relief!). It was super easy to set up, and it even came with stickers for me to apply to the design. Before I knew it, my youngest son was all over this. In fact, he cannot stop riding around on this roller coaster! From morning to night, he is on this roller coaster, which is why I still have not put it away. My husband and I decided to keep this one indoors due to the super hot weather outside, so that he can enjoy cool indoor time. Once fall is here, we will move it to our outdoor space for him and his older brother to enjoy. I love that the maximum weight is 50 pounds, which allows his older brother to bring back his toddler memories and have fun with his youngest brother! Although, I cannot tell you enough how many times a day I hear my 8-year-old and 11-year-old tell me how much they wish Step2 would create one for bigger kids to enjoy as well. Hint hint, Step2! This platinum edition is well worth it. It comes with a ride-on toy that looks like a motorcycle, a 9-foot track to ride on, and steps to climb up to the ride. It is excellent for 2 to 5-year-olds and up to a maximum of 50 pounds. This set is very well designed and safe for my toddler, who is having the time of his life! This would make an excellent gift for a 2-year-old for a birthday, just because, or as a gift from Santa. I look forward to adding other Step2 pieces to my backyard and home! I am giving this five stars but read more for a very honest review. First off, this is a great product for the price. I compared so many playhouses trying to find something large enough for my big 4-year-old, and open enough to not get stuffy in our very humid hot summer climate, but at a lower price point because kids are expensive! This checks all of those boxes. I only found a couple others that were as tall, and none with the overall square footage at such a low cost. It took me—a single mom stopping for many snack breaks and with occasional “helpers” and then a couple of “squatters”mid build, a total of 5 hours to build. Please note you get what you paid for. I did have to drill a couple holes they missed in the pre-drill, and a few things did not line up perfectly. Some of the hardwareattachment systems were laughable, but I trudged through and in the end it appears sturdy enough. The fence is completely worthless unless you use your own hardware, but with the tiny screws for it, my little 1-year-old daughter pulled it both off the house, and apart two minutes after I built it. But who needs the little fence anyway! It was the least necessary part! You will need a drill for missing holes and to make construction fast and manageable. It does not come with any wrenches etc. in the kit. Overall it is so cute, and we are very pleased. I would absolutely purchase it again. Now to get back to my plastic hot dogs, but not until I wash my hand in the sink (also the toys that come along are silly and will likely frustrate your small humans like they have mine) but we are keeping it together and having fun!.
