There are a couple of things to be aware of: 1) Although easy to do, there are many pieces to assemble, so count on maybe 2-3 hours of time to fully assemble the desk, hutch and all of the drawers. 2) Given the type of coated particle board construction that is used, there were some small blemishes on corners/ends of a few of the pieces. Looks great! It’s very sturdy. The black looks really nice. Took my husband two hours to put together but he wasn’t rushing. The drawers open smoothly but they do make slight sound as it sort of scrapes along the metal. The drawers don’t have stoppers so COULD fall on toes BUT they’re so deep that I can’t imagine that happening. We do plan to remedy that in some way because it for our 7yo son, but not necessary for older kids or adults. chair opening is very large which makes it nice for widercrossed-legged chairs. This is absolutely perfect for my daughter. It only took me about 90 minutes by myself to put together and I found the instructions very easy to follow. She is currently five years old and loves art and this desk is perfect for it. It is big enough that she can grow into it but not so big that I’m worried about her using it now it’s very sturdy the drawer glides out very easily. The door opens and closes soft softly.
