I would give a 10 if I could. I have a bad back and so finding a chair that is comfortable for both short and long periods of time is crucial. This chair is amazing! It hugs just right at the bottom of the shoulder blades and but is designed with a slight flair so as you recline a bit it to adjusts to hold your back without you feeling stiff or in a position that isn’t real. We actually like that they provide the ability to have dinner and then if we choose continue at the table with conversation or even games for long periods of time thereafter. Update December 2025: with minimal use and a protective cover, this table has issues with the top. The inlay seemed to shrink? I added a photo of the gap. I only found out today when I removed the cover (it was time for a new one, which I have done once before because, again, minimal use). I am not even sure how to fix this... .... To be fair, this was just delivered. The table is solid and hefty. The color is very dark, almost a gray black, which is fine by me. You definitely need 2 people to put this together - I opted to have installation and I don't regret it! The table is big even without the leaf (see pic with chairs - yes, I have 8 chairs but took 2 out for a better pic). Either end space doesn't pull up close to the table because of the legs, but when you sit in the chair it is very comfortably spaced. Under the table, when sitting on the side chairs, it is very comfortable too, with decent elbow room (yes, even whithout the leaf and 3 chairs per side). Like others said, around the top's edge is a gap so you might need toothpicks to clean the groove, but it isn't obnoxious. The leaf gap is tight with the clamps in place, so that is also good. The extension mechanism is a chain wheel so it is smooth to pull apart. That said, i would assume it needs to be checked every so often. I can't speak to that since I just got the table.. Sheri. Very sturdy and great quality piece of furniture! It ended up being back ordered after I ordered it so it took a couple months to get it. Well worth the wait.
