I ordered the slate gray and they are definitely not gray if you're really looking for that color. Yes, they are expensive and worth every penny! I'm not sure WHY the title has the word "Sateen" in the description. These are the same SUPERIOR brand sheets I have purchased for 12-15 years and they are 100% Egyptian Cotton and sturdy not thin like many of sateen sheets are. OK, mixed reviews on this one. I like them they are crisp and sound crisp “like paper” after washing. I think they are soft to touch but light enough for summer sleep.
