We purchased outdoor light fixtures with a mounting base too small to cover the electrical box. These covers were perfect. The plastic layer is of very good quality and didn't scratch when the drill bit scraped against it. The plastic layer covers a metal plate that is stamped with holes (not through the plastic) that match the location of mounting screw holes on the electric box. You just need to drill the holes and supply mounting screws. I carefully mounted the base of the light fixture on the cover (measured and drilled the holes) then the cover on the wall. Absolutely perfect... we replaced 2 small can lights with pendants. The pendants needed to be spaced differently and this added a finished look and did not require us to have to make a ceiling repair and paint the entire ceiling. Our led ceiling light have a professional sleep mode, which can be set by remote control. The night light on the back of the light prevents the light from shining directly on the eyes. The setting of gradually turning off the light in 30 minutes allows the children to eliminate their fear of the dark and accompany them to sleep.
