I have used this for a completely different purpose. I love the way it looks, but it is pretty wimpy. It serves its purpose that I need really well. I’m not sure how well it would stand up to plants. It might break apart pretty easily under the weight of that.. Cindy. Saint George, UT. Sat May 02 2026

Elevate your garden or lawn with this metal pergola arbor featuring a latch lock gate with scroll designs. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Some assembly required. This is a single bronze colored garden gate. Traditional style.

Putting it together was simple to understand but not all of the pieces were aligned and it took some work. This could have been due to unevenness of the ground? Smaller than what I was expecting, even with reviewing dimensions. Overall I am happy with my purchase. We will be staking this down to ensure it does not blow over in a heavy storm and plan on removing 1 side of slates to plant a climbing rose in ground (they are not removable. They need to be cut out mechanically). The doors on the columns are really nice and it would be easy to put decor or pots in the column.. Courtney. Wyandotte, MI. Fri Oct 09 2020

This versatile gate gives you a stand-alone option for any space: Mark an entrance, frame an area between landscaping, or highlight a special space. It makes a perfect solution when larger items like an arbor or trellis might not work. Laser-cut tree of life design is supported by a mesh panel. Ground-mount the gate for stability. A working gate has a latch closure. The metal gate frame is finished in black, and the tree design is burnished bronze.

Beautiful gate! I’m still installing it. It’s missing a screw for the latch, so that’s a trip to the hardware store. The posts in the ground are very short so I will need to pour cement for it to be stable. Good price for a Plow and Hearth product. FYI-Their items usually need protective coats against rust.. Precision-cut components and snug-fitting parts ensure a strong, stable structure, while the smooth sanded finish gives it a clean, refined appearance. Perfect for supporting climbing vines, roses, or decorative lighting, the GA87 blends classic design with dependable durability.

The packaging and quality of the cedar is very good. Like Teal, of Pomona, NY stated in their review: it’s a box of wood and bag of hardware and some very simplistic instructions. As a prolific builder and DIYfer I used my experience in assembling the arch. Fortunately, I have a pneumatic brad nailer with galvanized brads which made short time in nailing the many pieces together. I did not follow the slat spacing suggestions from the directions, rather having read the reviews, I made my own jig spacers after careful measurements. Pros: Good quality cedar; Looks excellent when completed; Assembly is straight forward once you figure out the spacing; Left unfinished the cedar will gracefully weather Cons: Directions need embellishment; Not for those wanting a quick assembly; Took over 6 hours to complete; Nails provided are not galvanized and should be of an outside product; Only 2 decorative wooden “arrows”---should be 4 for two on each side; Added longer and beefier exterior screws at the top/side joints for more strength.
