I’ve been wanting something like this for a while. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Something very sturdy to hold my heavier cats something I’m not gonna worry is going to tip over. I purchased this for my mobility challenged ( tripaw ) cats. The spacing will allow them to safely climb without me worrying about falls as much. Yes it's expensive BUT .. the quality of the wood is exceptional. I am a little concerned the carpeting is very thin and it may become an issue with shredding- hopefully not! I will update this review in a few months on the durability of the carpet. We have a rescue and this tree is a hit with everyone. This cat tree is sturdy! It was easy to assemble, besides initially lining up the base to the first post. I used the included wrench to "poke through" the holes to help line them up. It is a beautiful kitty tree. It is indeed not 'paded' at the top (besides rim), but seems soft enough for my kitty. My cat is too big to get on by himself (not as much space between basket bed and top of tree), but he doesn't mind, and spends hours on it after I place him there, lol. This has been a great addition to our cats’ furniture collection! The smalleryounger cat loves to sleep on the flower on top, which is made of something like memory foam, but a bit denser. I imagine it is somewhat self-heating and also helps to hold onto the heat from the window. My largest cat loves the middle level basket. She will curl up in it for hours and has since I took it out of the box. Her sister is terrified of the entire thing and avoids even being near it. I have no idea why. I picked it because it had 3 levels, and they are always together, but it has not appealed to her yet.
