I really liked these barstools. Husband liked the ones he picked out best and he won, so I returned these. The swivel was smooth and the back rest supportive. I (female in my 50s) put them together on my own and it was pretty easy. They looked great and felt solid. They may be a little small for larger people, like over 300 lbs. Putting the legs together (first step) was slightly tricky, but every step after went smoothly. The holes for screws are perfectly machined, nicely thought out assembly design. The swivel seats rotate is smooth as can be. In choosing the height for a 36 inch high counter I felt there needed to be something in between the 25 inch and 30 inch stool. These are great and very comfortable! If I had one criticism it would be to ignore the instructions when it says to tighten the legs to the foot rail to 100%. Definitely put all screws in (legs to seat and legs to foot rail) at 50%, then align and tighten the legs to the seat to 100% BEFORE you tighten the foot rail..otherwise you will not be able to align the chair legs in a way that minimizes the gaps between the parts, creating pinch points for fingers when scooting in your chair. I was a little worried after I ordered as I am a neat freak wondered if the bar stools would not go underneath the counter top. I have just the regular 35” high island they fit perfectly.
