I did need help to attach the umbrella to the bottom stand but overall, it took about 40 minutes to put together. Great Umbrella! Easy to assemble and took about 15 minutes. The base does require sand to keep it secured, but it comes with heavy duty canvas sand bags that fit inside the square base. The hand crank to open and close it turned easily and fully extended it covers a lot of space. You do have to play with the clamp/arm to get the angle you want, but its easy to operate. I wish they had provided slightly larger tie strings as they barely go around the umbrella to secure it while down. A piece of velcro fixed that issue. I got the khaki color and it a nuetral color..
