The teardrop design of the sturdy steel rod allows for a higher load capacity than a standard round bar. It also helps hangers slide easily. Add another rod to double-hang shirts over pants or hang high for longer items like dresses.

I installed the rods at exactly 48 inches. They feel lightweight but sturdy, and the hanging brackets feel sturdy too. The instructions were a little unclear, and I wasn’t sure what the extra screws were for, but I was able to install them. If you have the space, I’d recommend choosing a larger size for more support in the middle. I don’t plan to pack mine tightly; I’ll use them for my seasonal and most-worn clothes.. Kahrla_g. Ig. Support your closet shelf and pole with this elegantly designed hardware! This closet shelf bracket offer all sorts of versatility. For a really quick "down and dirty" installation, use them by themselves (without any wall cleats or end supports). Simply screw them right over the drywall (taking care to get a good bite into the studs), throw a shelf on top, cut the rod to length, and you can be hanging clothes inside of 30 minutes! Another approach would be to have a cleat on the back wall of the closet to give the shelf a little more support and to lend a more refined appearance to the job. These brackets can handle BOTH methods in a way we know you'll appreciate. Here's how they work...The horizontal and the angled members of each bracket are connected with a rivet through a slot, which allows the 2 components to slide back and forth up to 3/4". Because of this design innovation, you can opt to use a 3/4" thick wall cleat (or no cleat at all), and the bracket will compensate automatically! Oh, and BTW, there's another nice advantage to this design. During installation you can temporarily rotate the angled member of the bracket 90 degrees, giving you lots of elbow room to screw them in place. Sweet! Here's what you get...- 1 black powder coated, shelf & pole bracket- All the necessary fasteners to secure the bracket as well as the shelf
