Ok, giving this 4.5 stars for aesthetic and solid wood frame. HOWEVER, please be cautioned There were some dings and splintering that are fortunately hidden after assembly with one acception. The assembly itself self took 2.5 hrs with a couple sanity breaks. Each spindled piece has an item sticker that would be visible and thus needed removal. I ruined my nails and spent 10x as long removing stickers and the glue as I did putting the head and footboard together. After FINALLY getting this bed put together, I almost cried contemplating the labor intensive deconstruction that would be required to take it out of the room. This project is not for the faint of heart. It is, indeed, a project. I would not deduct stars as paying for assembly is an option. Also, an oversight on my part, but the bedframe will not house a mattress and box spring, only a mattress. My biggest frustration was the assembly, and second the blemishes on the frame. It took me four hours by myself to put together but the instructions were ok and all the hardware was there. Construction of the wood parts was good. It's very solid and I love having the trundle option under the bed. Just remember that you need a thinner mattress for the trundle pull out than for the top bed. Super cute, my toddler was so excited. Took about 2.5 hours to build. Downside is the casters had to be left off or the drawers are too high to properly close all the way. Wish the support beams came with a few additional pieces so my husband and I felt more secure when laying in it with him to put him to sleep but overall sturdy enough. We also had to buy corner cushions for the pieces by the stairs because they are pretty sharp and my toddler slipped on the stairs and got a small cut by his eye when he hit the rails by the steps.. A must-have for the growing child, this twin size captain bed is great for a little one and has room for a friend to sleep over. The pull-out trundle offers an extra bed while providing much-needed bedroom storage with the lower three drawers. Mission style slats adorn the headboard and footboard to provide a grown-up appeal.
