The drawers are soft-close and can hold quite a bit, however the drawers are not particularly deep. The granite is beautiful and since this chest is so large there is quite a bit of granite surface area. I purchased this for my office but it would look beautiful in a bedroom as well. It sticks out just a tiny bit. It isn’t very visible but I notice it every time I open and close that drawer. I am not sending it back just because of these two issues.
