Handwoven in wool and originating from Brussels, Belgium, this 9x15 Flemish Verdure tapestry from the mid 19th Century is a rare and special new curation from Rug & Kilim—featuring a particularly popular aesthetic with lush foliage and depicting a naturalistic "garden" scene. On the Design:A romantic countryside scene with mature trees creating a natural canopy over a meandering stream or pond, while distant architectural elements suggest a château or manor house that establishes aristocratic context for the bucolic setting. The foreground reveals remarkable naturalistic detail—elegant swans and waterfowl rendered with anatomical precision, scattered throughout the aquatic landscape alongside carefully observed botanical elements including flowering plants, grasses, and varied foliage that demonstrates the designer's encyclopedic knowledge of natural forms. The color palette demonstrates refined French aesthetic sensibility—sophisticated blue-green tonalities creating harmonious foundation while cream and golden accents provide luminous highlights that enhance the design’s inherent romance. The elaborate floral border featuring scrolling vine work and classical motifs creates an architectural framework that elevates the central scene while demonstrating the workshop's mastery of decorative vocabulary. The weaver's skilled hand has executed a vision of aristocratic leisure here, where every delicate petal and architectural detail speaks to the period's discerning taste, making this piece a rare testament to the enduring allure of Flemish weaving tradition. This French needlepoint tapestry functions as museum-quality wall hanging ideal for traditional interiors celebrating European decorative arts heritage. The sophisticated palette and pastoral imagery complement formal libraries, dining rooms, or reception areas requiring cultural gravitas and artistic distinction. Condition: This Antique French Needlepoint tapestry further enjoys good condition for its age and origin—intended for use in wall-hanging projects only.

The arc of old time hides the laziness that does not fade. Solid wood texture soaked with warmth, velvet soft wrapped in relaxation, a lie in the old days into the tenderness. Balcony reading the newspaper, afternoon snooze, retro flavour to steal a share of leisure.

Came as advertised! I was not expecting the pillows but was a nice touch too! Looking forward to decorating around this for this salon/hallway. Very firm but comfortable. Won’t fall asleep on it, but can lounge and read. Spouse (6’) can lounge across with generous space for feet. It is not a deep seat, so might not fit all. Overall, very happy I decided to purchase it!. Anonymous. VA. Sun Oct 11 2026
