First of all I love it! I could not believe though that the shelves were not made of clear glass so the lights illuminate both the top and bottom. So I bought two 11X14 picture frames, cheap at the dollar store, and used just the glass and the frame as shelves. They fit perfectly. I then used one of the wood shelves as a base for my subwoofer. I gave it four stars because two of the boards did not have holes for the screws so I had to figure out the right placement by building it backwards from the last step to the first,and the remote control came broken.Other than that this is a strong solid elegant tv entertainment stand. The fire place was the main reason I wanted this, and it did not disappoint the fireplace ours out plenty of heat. I cannot wait until the weather change because this will be so cozy at night. This media console is just the perfect addition to my living room. I chose the whitebrown so it goes with everything including the kitchen table that I got in the same colors. I had somebody put it together for me and it took him about an hour and a half. Even though the fire is artificial, it casts a nice warming, comforting glow and has sounds to go with it.
