This bookcase is really lovely. I had been looking for an antique bookshelf and just was not finding anything that was in good condition and in my price range. I started looking elsewhere and when I saw this, I loved it. Sent a link to my husband, and he liked it too. Reading the reviews, a few people mentioned that the finish was not totally smooth on the shelves - that has actually played in my favor. I really like that all of the primary components are solid wood and finish painted very well. Very happy with the cabinets. The bookcase top is made to pair with our glacier peak sideboard and is made of solid reclaimed pine. Two vertical supports with two shelves (left and right shelves are non-adjustable; middle shelves are adjustable). May also be mounted to a wall for open shelving. Reclaimed pine will, by nature, likely have nail holes, cracks, knots, and other imperfections.

Stratton emulates the grand scale and timeless beauty of a Gothic library. Distinguishing details include elegant arches, fluted corbels, dentil molding, and beadboard back panels. Hardwood veneers have been wire brushed and intentionally distressed to present an authentic aged appearance and are enhanced by the rich toffee finish. The five-step wooden ladder can be hung on metal bars for an added touch of nostalgia.
