I literally just put it together, filled it up and turned it on. So far, it’s sturdy and made well. The water flows well - but the top pitcher that fills and pours to the next, fills up too quickly and overflows. The other pitchers fill and pours properly. Bells have been used throughout the ages to accompany dance, to provide comfort, and to warn of possible danger. The Chinese were the first to control the pitch or note of a bell, making it possible for them to play tunes. Soon bells were being used to accompany worship. On New Year's Eve, the bells in Buddhist temples are rung 108 times, once for each of the 108 worldly desires. In the East bells have become very important and are often decorated with significant symbols. For centuries, tuned bells have been suspended in homes and temples to ward off evil and attract good luck and prosperity. These ancient bells inspire Woodstock Temple Bells and work harmoniously with the wind to create gentle, soothing tones. In 1979, Grammy(R) Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th-century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The Chimes of Olympos was the first of Woodstock Chimes Wind Chimes and is still one of our best-selling, musically-tuned windchimes. I like the sculptural presentation and ease if set up. I purchased this model for placement near my bird feeders to provide water and bathing options for the birds. It replaces a bird bath that gets too hot and stagnant during summer months. I like the large basin. It’s rained every day since set up so I haven’t had a chance to find out if the water will remain cool enough to entice the birds. I painted the basin white to help keep the water from getting too hot. I’m not pleased that maintaining the pumpcleaning requires removing the sculpture top to access the internal tank but other than this minor issue I love it. Garry had the idea to cut and tune the lawn chair chime tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our bestselling wind chimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Percussion, Inc. in 1979 and it remains based in New York's Hudson Valley.

UPDATE it is now 25MAY 2026 and I decided to get my water bell feature from out of the garage and give it a go again. I had to replace the pump. To my surprise, once I hooked it up, it works perfectly! I’m happy that I tried it again. Thank you! A few months ago, I was at a salt room and I was introduced to a water bell fountain and I fell in love with it. When I inquired about it, I was told that it was very old (and not for sale). I wanted one so I searched the internet and found this one and purchased it. I’ve had it set up for awhile now and to my disappointment…no bell ringing.
