We used these on our back patio and added faux shrubbery to add some greenery. These are metal and VERY sturdy. You could even put bricks or rocks in the base if you live in a windy spot. Case in point: we took down four trees, and a decent-sized branch smacked directly into the side of one of these beds and barely left a dent. That alone changed my opinion.
