Beautiful and Functional Kitchen Island I’m very happy with the overall look and functionality of this kitchen island. It feels sturdy, provides helpful storage, and the drop leaf gives us extra counter space when needed without taking up too much room. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. I recently moved into a rental that has an awkward layout for cooking and this solves the problem beautifully. The leaf is just perfect, allowing more space for food prep but with the option to stow it away to keep the walkway open. From the time I opened the box, including organizing and verifying all the parts, it took 3.5 hours to assemble, plus another 20-30 min for final adjustments, removing stickers, and disposing all the packaging. One of the hardware packets was mislabeled. The instructions were mostly clear with a couple confusing spots. At the end one of the drawers wouldn't slide in all the way so I had to adjust the sliders to a different hole than instructed. I didn't need (or like) the bulky spice rack so I filled the holes with nail hole filler. As other reviewers have commented, it is definitely a tip hazard with the leaf open when the cabinets are empty, but once I put heavier stuff inside the whole thing stabilized. I agree the back side (leaf side) of the unit would look nicer with a more finished appearance but it doesn't bother me since it faces away from the entrance. Luckily the delivery person delivered the box right to my door where I could drag it inside - I'm a petite woman and it weighs 100 lbs, so I wouldn't have been able to get it inside otherwise. This cart is functional, pretty, and exactly what I needed for my kitchen space. Solid wood, easy to put together. The instructions were clear, and easy to follow. It lost one star because I only received one cabinet knob, not two, and had to run to the hardware store to purchase replacements to complete the build. The customer service center was closed for the weekend by the time I realized the error, but regardless I wanted it completed, so off I went. Replacement knobs in hand, the rest of the assembly went smoothly. Getting the top placed correctly was a teensy bit tricky, I do wish there had been some indication as to what was the front or back, but I managed to get it done. This island is exactly what I was looking for. It did take quite a while to put together as I was building it by myself. The box also arrived heavily damaged (someone had either stepped on it or kicked it). As a result, one of the doors was cracked. This is a nice piece and looks like the picture. However, be warned, this is a very complicated DIY assembly. I have lots of experience in that area and generally enjoy assembly and this took me 4-5 hours to assemble. Amazing product. Very good quality and really worked for me and the purpose I wanted it. The only thing is that I decided to not add the sides pieces since I didn’t need it and wanted this to be in the middle of the kitchen. Also, I wrapped the top of the island with contact paper to match my countertop. Also I like that you can easily move it because of the wheels and it has a very good brake. I truly love this piece. I added wallpaper to the doors which I’m loving. The only negative thing I have to say is the drawers are super thin and not very deep which is expected with the width of the island without the leaf up.
