Love this bed! The build took about four hours and the instructions were very easy to follow. If you have basic tools, I definitely recommend using them to make assembly smoother. It feels very sturdy and the wood quality is solid. It did surprise me how low it sits to the ground, but I actually like the sleek look now. It makes my room feel more open and modern. Update: This took 5 inexperienced people weeks to put together because it has so many parts. I got stickers to cover the screws because I don't like the big visible screw look. My daughter loves the ample storage and the food use of space in her room. My daughter loves the bed. That being said, it was a pain to assemble. The instructions were vague at best in many parts. Some of the pieces were mislabeled or not labeled at all. Once assembled, it looks great and works as advertised. As others have noted, it's definitely a project to get put together. The unit comes in 6 boxes and you'll need help for at least 2 of the assembly steps. The bed has to fit flush to the wall (attached to studs) and the instructions call for cutting the baseboard to make this happen. I didn't want to cut the baseboard (rental unit) so I firred out the back of the unit with 1x painted trim although you could also cut a notch in the bottom of the bed cabinet. If your mounting over an electrical outlet you may need to move one of the back supports up or down to clear the outlet. You'll want an outlet available so you can connect the built-in USB port and maybe put up some lights inside the cabinet. There's a gap between the head of the mattress and the wall when the bed is down, so there's no headboard to lean against, just fyi. This desk is perfect for what we needed. My daughter wanted more space for dance and this has really opened up so much room. Because it is so long she hasn’t really lost any desk space either. This murphy bed desk works well for what I need. The desk is a little bit shallow, but fine for a laptop. It wouldn't be ideal if its your primary desk. The bed is pretty comfortable for only 6" and works great as a guest bed. It is easy to convert between the desk and the bed and was way easier to assemble/install than a traditional murphy bed and much less expensive. It did come with a crack in the desk piece and a marred corner, but it wasn't worth the hassle of returning, so for the price I'm just living with the imperfections.. Amanda. Huntsville, AL.
