The seat part of the sofa is not hard but not soft. I would say medium to soft but this is understandable given it is a sofa bed and I am overall very impressed with its comfort. The guys did a great job delivering and setting up the sofa! I may move it to another part of the room due to the original space being a bit too small. Love the Quaility and modular construction. Very easy to put together. Day 2 of delivery and still see a little sign of compression on back cushions but expect that to decompress with time. The microfiber material seen very good in Quaility. My only minor issue was a few springs on the pull out had fallen out and need to be reinstalled but nothing after that. I would recommend it. I got the sofa bed in beige faux leather with cherry legs. I have not tried sleeping on it, and it is quite solid to sit on, but it is nonetheless exactly what I needed. I wanted to convert my son's old room into a den/guestroom that could accommodate him on his infrequent visits home (a regular sofa might have made him feel unwelcome and displaced) or that could accommodate the occasional overnight guest without encouraging them to linger too long. This sofa is the perfect size to create a reading corner amidst a wall of books, while still providing reasonable sleeping accommodations for 1-2 guests. I am very pleased. I looked far and wide before finding anything in a pale beige faux leather (I am vegan and dislike large dark sofas). From there, the lumber travels to one of our frame shops where the wood is cut, shaped, and assembled into the highest-quality frames available. The foam and fiber parts, built with eco-friendly practices and recycled materials are cut to size at one of two nearby foam processing plants. These components are then joined in one manufacturing center where they are assembled into your piece of furniture. Our fabric, sourced from around the world, selected for its quality, style, and value, and stored in our climate-controlled fabric warehouse, is then cut, sewn, and applied to create your finished piece of upholstered furniture.
