We are pretty happy with the platform bed. Very protected in the box. The instructions were only pics, which was easy to understand. This rustic wood farmhouse platform bed is a great bed. It is very sturdy with the metal frame and would agree you do not need a box spring, but for dimension we decided to put both box spring and mattress on the bed. The wood has a very nice finish to it that makes it look like real walnut wood. However it is light weight and very easy for one person to move and position on their own. It also was very easy to assemble and only took about 20 minutes which is quite surprising for such a nice piece of structured furniture. The headboard is not overly tall and the bed sits at a normal height even with a box spring. Overall we are very pleased with the bed and would recommend the purchase at the price. point.. Tracey.
