The armrests allow for even distribution of bodyweight, which has made the counter stool my favorite place to sit in our whole house. I have to admit that after assembly, I went and just sat in the counter stool for a long while after waking up in the middle of the night. Yesssssss, it's that comfortable! The reason for the 4 star rating is because some of the metal tabs were bent at a 45° angle when they should have been at a 90° angle, so it helps to have the proper tools to straighten them out. I was looking for a lower profile stool that still had good back support and these were it! They are cushy and soft and supportive. They were the perfect color as well. My only wish is that they had foot rests on the sides as well, but that's because I'm used to that now. One cushion has a small gouge that would have split more as we sat on it, so I requested a replacement and Wayfiar was so quick to respond! We had a replacement within the week.
