Love this table! It is very dark brown... think espresso brown. Definitely not gray or ashy in color. But I love it! The inserts to expand the table go in and out very easily. The table is a 5 star! Super heavy nice quality! The chairs are nice but not quite as heavy. The table took about an hour for 1 person to assemble so might be easier faster with 2 people.
