I bought this bench because I thought I needed somewhere to sit and put on my shoes. What I apparently needed was a whole new personality. This bench instantly made my entryway look like I hired an interior designer who charges way more than I’m willing to admit. The wood has that beautiful, rustic, perfectly imperfect texture that makes it look like it has a story—even though I ordered it from my couch while wearing pajamas. It’s sturdy, beautiful, and the perfect size. I added a pillow and throw, and suddenly my entryway is giving “cozy European farmhouse” instead of “please ignore the pile of shoes by the door.” My only complaint is that now I want to redecorate the entire house around the bench. 1010 would absolutely buy again. If I could give this purchase a negative I would. Do not buy this bench. It was sent wrapped in bubble wrap. One layer of bubble wrap. It’s filthy, and continues to drop rotting wood on the floor also unusable bc it will get on clothing if you brush past it. It has marker on it and doesn’t come off. It’s uneven and doesn’t sit straight in the floor. Cracks are irreparable and poorly made. And the most frustrating part is it damaged, and wayfair wants me to go buy new bubble wrap and wrap it up to return it. There’s hunks of square pieces of wood that actually can be picked up and removed from the bench, like a puzzle piece. Customer service was lousy with helping to resolve the problem. Nothing but a headache for a bench I was really looking forward to having. Get it somewhere else. I asked to have a replacement bench sent and they said no! This bench was a very pleasant surprise. I wanted the William Yeoward, Jonathan Charles bench but at $1,900 I decided I would 'settle' for the Emmalee bench instead. I was SHOCKED to see its gorgeous quality and that it is identical to the more expensive one. The color I got says "natural" but as you can see in my photos it is not that; instead it is a beautiful brownish gray, much dressier than a natural finish. The size is identical to the more expensive one, and the construction is substantial, sturdy and very high quality. The cane seating is thick and sturdy.
