Apilco Quiche Dish

Beloved for its sophisticated simplicity, versatility, and durability, Lastra is our bestselling collection. The understated elegance, clean lines, and unique shape of the Lastra White Pie Dish make it a timeless serving piece for your home. Lastra’s design was inspired by the circular wooden slabs used for centuries to create the outer mold in cheesemaking throughout Italy. When fashioned together with twine, the hoop was left with a slight overlap to help maintain the shape of the cheese mold. Maestro molder Stefano Roselli incorporates the overlapping detail into the entire design, from its foot to its rim. A dark dusting on the edges of each piece suggests the ash that was used to preserve these cheeses and highlights each unique silhouette.

This pie is accented by the natural flecking of iron deposits in the clay, adding visual texture and showcasing the materials the pieces are crafted from.

Serve and display in style with this iron tray with cloche. A soft sage green enamel finish brings subtle color to the handcrafted iron tray, while antique gold edging adds a warm, refined accent. The removable textured glass cloche catches the light beautifully while keeping pastries, cheeses, and other small bites on display. Equally at home on a kitchen island, dining table, or sideboard, it transitions effortlessly from entertaining to everyday décor. Legend has it that this beloved dessert originated in the kitchen of the Tatin sisters, who operated a hotel in the French town of Lamotte-Beuvron. While making a pie for guests, one sister mistakenly placed the prepared apples in the dish first. She decided to lay the pastry crust on top, and turn it out after it finished baking. The result was unusual but delicious, and it became the signature dish of hotel Tatin. Named for this famous French upside-down apple tart, the enameled cast iron tart Tatin is a capable alternative for a variety of recipes like pizza and quiche when used in place of a conventional pie dish.
