The artist, D’Alessandro Léon, was the youngest of three brothers. When art competitions were a form of play for the brothers, it later grew into his obsession. D’Alessandro Léon attended the Art Institute of California where he explored mixing mediums as well as digital. He also attended illustration, Sculpting, and Fine Art workshops. After spending long periods studying different techniques, D’Alessandro Léon's art became increasingly influenced by artists from the early 1900s. During his studies, he painted many different themes. He painted with restless intensity, often painting from morning until night. D’Alessandro Léon was able to indulge his earliest artistic preferences for people, nature, architecture, and landscapes in his illustration and personal pieces.

This illuminated singe-light wall sconce features a pane of selenite in a sculptural antique brass mounting. This is a natural crystalline material. By its sheer nature, imperfections such as other mineral deposits, which may appear as colored sections or varying crystalline structures, are not only expected but indeed add to the beauty of the piece. The softness of selenite may result in the separation of sections of crystal, which can be reattached with the use of a clear adhesive.

A statement piece that brings energy and life to any space. The artist creates a powerful, moody impressionistic landscape through the use of shadows and a dark color palette. The dramatic lighting creates a strong focal point in the distance and adds warmth to the piece. The added specialty encaustic finish further adds texture and dimension, making this piece one of a kind.
