I ordered a cantilever umbrella that had a metal X base which couldn't support the weight of the umbrella so I ordered this to hold it in place. It took about $15-20 worth of sand from the local hardware store to fill it up. For me the base is SO bulky though. Perhaps this isn't something that can be avoided due to the nature of the item and the weight it needs to compensate for but it takes up a lot of space so just make sure you plan for that.
