We took a road trip from PA to SC last week, and I followed the pre chilling suggestions (set both sections to -4° for a minimum of 3-4 hours before filling) from the reviews.. I adjusted one section to 34° after I filled the refrigerated food while leaving the the frozen food set to -4°. I did add a few freezer blocks to the tops of both sections before we closed the lids. On the trip down we stayed overnight in a hotel halfway to SC.. To my delight our food was in perfect condition when we unpacked it!! The price was better than other roto-molded coolers on the market, but it did not perform much better than my injection molded ice chest and it had some significant drawbacks Pro: -pretty -leak proof -cheaper than yeti, rtic, etc -divider and basket -love the drain Con: -heavy (30 lb empty) -over 3x as much as my old igloo and did not seem any better at holding ice -SHALLOW! At 10 qt more than my other cooler I wasn’t planning on it being so much shorter inside. I went to put in a jug of ice coffee and it was too tall to fit ‍♀️ -trying to copy the mesh netting on the rtic was a cool idea, but the dumb adhesive/velcro did not hold up. Michael. CA. We've had this Suncast deck cooler for quite a while now, and it's been a fantastic addition to our patio. It looks much nicer than a traditional cooler and doubles as an attractive piece of outdoor furniture when we're entertaining. The 77-quart capacity holds plenty of drinks for family gatherings and cookouts, and the wheels make it easy to move wherever we need it. I also appreciate the built-in drain, which makes cleanup quick and simple after the ice melts. One thing I did to help extend its life was purchase a weatherproof cover for it. When it's not in use, especially during the winter, I keep it covered to protect it from the elements. It's held up very well and still looks great.
