An excellently crafted piece of craftsmanship. If you have a child who might be hesitant of the top bunk due to a past experience of it feeling shaky, have no fear. This is a well manufactured product, all pieces connected perfectly or nearly perfect needing no additional work to get them to fit. The ladder is mounted top and bottom to the framing adding additional structural integrity. The mattress slats! While other brands try to work with less, this unit provides approx. 14 top and 14 bottom alleviating any chance or concern of sagging or mattress rippling—a virtual box spring of sorts. There is virtually no shake at all in the structure after it is built. Also, the pictures lack clarity of the under-storage space; flat long 2'x4' totes fit 3-4, side-by-side, and with nearly enough room to stack another on top! If you're looking for that extra space, you will have it (great for extra blankets or seasonal clothing storage). We were initially going o to purchase 2 twin beds to fit into our 2nd bedroom, but happened upon this bunk bed. I have never made a big furniture purchase from Wayfair, so I was a bit leery about buying something I hadn't seen in person. What a great buy! The wood was solidly made, and the color was flawless. My husband could not stop commenting on the quality of the wood, and how well organized the parts and directions were. It took a couple of hours to put everything together, but it truly was a great purchase. The slats were included, so all we needed to add were the mattresses.
